Artwork reclaiming curiosity and sense of place

The artwork in Edward Everett Square represents the community’s 15 year long efforts to reclaim Dorchester’s history while redefining the capacity of public art to enhance aesthetic experience and catalyze urban renewal. Public artwork can have many functions – but project artist Laura Baring-Gould and members of the Edward Everett Square committee wanted to create a community landmark that would celebrate collective experience and cultivate community pride in place.
