Oral History workshop and training with historian Millie Rawn at the Dorchester Historical Society

As the mission of the artwork in Edward Everett Square was to celebrate Dorchester’s unique history, project artist Laura Baring-Gould had to answer the essential question: “Whose history? To this end, and to expand the community’s understanding of and appreciation for its different historical narratives, Laura worked with the Dorchester Historical Society to develop a pilot oral history project. Stories collected from the Oral history interviews became the basis for the project, grounded the artwork in the experiences of Dorchester residents, and provided many of the quotes used with the artworks.
